IF centres on 12-year-old Bea who has moved in with her grandma in New York City while her father is hospitalised for a significant operation. Bea who is still in shock at her mother’s early death spends her time going over old home videos that capture her early years. Bea is followed home one night by an enigmatic stranger in the shadows. When Bea gets the guts to look into it she goes to the top floor of her apartment building and finds her neighbour Cal leading a group of bizarre and colourful creatures known as IFs. Bea and Cal decide to work together to make the most of their superpower after realising they are the only two people who can see and communicate with these imagined pals.
