Furthermore, most of the documentary focuses on the search for Satoshi Nakamoto, the persona assumed by the virtual currency’s creator rather than the digital currency itself. A more logical title would be Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto? but this confused documentary struggles to find any sense of reason. Although it’s unclear where Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery begins it appears to begin with a history of Bitcoin’s beginnings. Filmmaker Cullen Hoback conducts interviews with individuals eager to make money off of Bitcoin and who will stop at nothing to assure others of its value.
