The narrative of Taroo and Alida, a Puerto Rican myth in which two lovers morph into a hummingbird and a flower, establishes the backdrop for the story. Lopez explores her personal challenges with love addiction and the hazards of hastily entering into intense relationships whenever the opportunity arises. Despite the fact that the title track of her most recent album, “This is Me…Then,” was crafted during the initial stages of her romance with her current husband Ben Affleck, it is curious that Affleck is only briefly alluded to as the boyfriend she falls in love with as they traverse a magnificent sunset landscape.
