The Russian couple Angela Nicolaou and Ivan Birkus share a thrilling passion for climbing the world’s tallest buildings. At the start, we join them as they climb Merdeka 118, a towering 118-story skyscraper in the bustling heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Yet, their adventures are not limited to any particular type of structure even a construction site is enough if it promises breathtaking views. In Skywalkers: A Love Story, there are plenty of such moments. However, the documentary is very much staged, which gives it an artificial vibe. Despite this, many of the scenes are nothing short of awe-inspiring. It inevitably draws comparisons to recent mountaineering documentaries, particularly the Oscar-winning Free Solo.
