The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Season 1 This series struggles with its writing failing to capture the essence of its potential. It drifts along, never quite delivering, and meanders from mediocre to passable throughout the first season. There’s no real sense of urgency for a second season, as it doesn’t seem to earn that anticipation. The presentation starts shaky and only slightly improves by the finale. Acting performances range from underwhelming to passable leaving much to be desired. The lack of character depth and the confusion with forgettable names make it difficult for viewers to stay engaged. If a second season is greenlit, it will require significant improvement to hook the audience, as Season 1 did little to ignite excitement for what comes next.
