The protagonist of the movie is Chip Collins, who at first has no interest in helping a group of young people who are attempting to join a team. But he sees that if he became their coach, helped them succeed, and then sold the rights to their narrative, he could bring his career back to life. Jaycen grows attached to these kids and starts to discipline them severely. Additionally, he makes contact with Cherise, his former lover, whose son Tre plays on the squad.
