In the 2019 biographical drama film Scoop, directed by Philip Martin, the backstage aspects of an interview between Andrew and Emily Maitlis, host of “Newsnight,” are explored. This interview was required because of Andrew’s associations with Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, in addition to allegations of sexual abuse. The actress Keeley Hawes plays Andrew’s publicist Amanda Thirsk; Billie Piper plays McAlister, Newsnight’s producer and interviewer. Based on Sam McAlister’s book “Scoops,” the movie goes beyond merely narrating how a news agency obtained an exclusive interview that led to the abolition of a royal title.
