The contentious and popular television series. The Apprentice presents Donald Trump’s birth story as though it were a Monster novel by Mary Shelley. And in this story, who is the nice doctor? No other than Roy Cohn, asks for the famously ferocious Fred Trump to help him create his monster. The movie directed by Ali Abbasi is divided into two main chapters: an hour set in the 1970s in which the persistently smart Cohn teaches the young, a bit naive Trump the art of closing deals. Then, an hour later, or around ten years later, Trump attained a degree of pleasure and corruption that he would carry with him for most of his life.
